INTERESTING THOUGHT

Does anyone remember the 2009 College National Championship Game between Florida and Oklahoma? Gators quarterback Tim Tebow had the Bible reference “John 3:16” written on his eye black as shown in the picture. Typical Tim.

What you might not know is that very night, more than ninety million people googled “John 3:16.” Ninety million people did not know John 3:16! Is it a football term? Ninety million people wondered what Tim was talking about. Maybe you are thinking the same thing right now.

John 3:16 is perhaps the greatest verse in all the Bible. It says… “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16

Some unknown source showcased the verse this way:

For God – THE GREATEST LOVER

so loved – THE GREATEST DEGREE

the world – THE GREATEST COMPANY

that he gave – THE GREATEST ACT

his only begotten Son – THE GREATEST GIFT

that whoever – THE GREATEST OPPORTUNITY

believes – THE GREATEST SIMPLICITY

in Him – THE GREATEST ATTRACTION

should not perish – THE GREATEST PROMISE

but – THE GREATEST DIFFERENCE

have – THE GREATEST CERTAINTY

everlasting life – THE GREATEST POSSESSION

Luther called John 3:16 “the heart of the Bible—the Gospel in miniature.” It is so simple a child can understand it, yet so deep adults marvel at the wonder of its truth. I can tell you this is the verse that rocked my world and sent my life on a different trajectory. It was written for you too.

Prayer: “Dear God, thank You for being the greatest Giver. Thank You for loving me and providing me with the greatest gift, your Son Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the relationship I can have with You by trusting in Jesus.”

P.S. This story occurred with Tim Tebo’s eyes in 2009. The NCAA banned the practice in 2010.
