Our Rescuer
By Alan Kearns
Then we cried to the Lord, the God of our fathers, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our affliction and our toil and our oppression; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror and with signs and wonders; and He has brought us to this place and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.
The East Neuk of Fife coastal waters at times appear beautiful and serene, but at other times can be treacherous with huge swells. The unsuspecting skipper can find themselves in serious trouble in such stormy conditions, often requiring to call upon the services of the lifeboat crews of Fife. Life can be like this too; one moment sailing along serene waters and suddenly a storm rises and threatens to capsize us. As believers in Almighty God Christians needn’t call on anyone other than God Himself in their crisis. He is a prayer hearing and answering God when it comes to His beloved children.
The Israelites were caught in the grips of slavery to Egypt, and many of them cried out to the God of their fathers and grandfathers for rescue. He heard their pleas and went into action to launch His Redemption plan; He didn’t only send Moses and Aaron, He put His own hands to work too in the rescue of the Israelites. The rescue was a complete plan; bringing them out, providing food for their restorative journey, and bringing them eventually to a Promised Land of plenty supplied by Him. Almighty God went the whole way rescuing and providing for His children!
Dear reader, what a marvelous Redeemer our God is, who hears your every prayer and sees your troubles! Be assured that He will stretch over the rail of the boat and rescue you from the ocean of hurt that besets you today. He will not settle you in a random place, but in a place of comfort and provision for your needs. Your Father God is the genuine Good Samaritan!
