Thought For Today: “Webble Faith”
Sometimes when I think of the faith, we need to live in this crazy mixed up world, the little egg shaped toy, the Weeble, comes to mind.
Back in the 70’s the slogan was, “Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down.” They were egg-shaped because that allowed them to wobble back and forth, but they could never fall over.
It is this type of faith that God desires, the type of faith that while it might wobble, it won’t topple over.
We see Webble faith in Abraham. God promised that he would be the father of many nations, but Sarah was barren. But this did not topple Abraham’s faith.
The Bible says, “Against all hope…in hope (he) believed.” (Romans 4:18)
It goes on to say, “He did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” (Romans 4:20-21)
We all need Weeble faith, so that our current circumstances won’t topple our faith as well.
Stagger Not. I AM Able. – – GOD. Romans 4:20-21

As I read this passage of scripture in Roman’s reiterating Abraham’s faith in God’s promise to make him the father of many nations, I am reminded of a statement Abraham made that really spoke to me in Genesis chapter 22 to the young men that had come with Abraham and his son, Isaac on the journey leading to Moriah, where Abraham had been told by God to offer up Isaac as a burnt offering. When they came to the place where Abraham could see the place from afar where the burnt offering was to take place, by his unwavering faith, Abraham was able to tell the young men with them in verse 5, “…“Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and ‘we’ will come back to you.” The fact that Abraham could say (we) will come back to you”, even getting ready to offer up his son, demonstrates undoubtably how secure Abraham was in his faith in God’s promise that it was going to be through Isaac that descendants would bear his name (Genesis 21:12). Also Abraham’s response to Isaac when he asked him where the lamb is for the burnt offering, speaks volumes in the steadfastness of Abraham’s faith. In Genesis 22:8, Abraham replied to Isaac, “…My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering…” Abraham never once doubted God’s promise. Like Abraham, we need to speak that same declaration of faith in the midst of our circumstances and look to God and not our trails in order for our faith not to topple over.
Thank you Debbie showing the faith of Abraham in the midst of such a great trial. Take Care and God Bless
