Thought For Today: “Answering God’s Want Ad”
I remember years ago seeing an old poster that had Uncle Sam pointing is finger saying, “I Want You for the U.S. Army.”
I then thought of God’s Want Ad, where He is saying that He wants us. I think it would go something like this, “Wanted: Men and women of faith willing to pick up the cross of Christ and live the cross life.”
When we come to faith in Jesus Christ, we answered God’s Want Ad, and are now employed by God for His kingdom work.
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
When we come to believe in Jesus as our Savior and Lord, God puts this same want ad out to us, which is known as the Great Commission.
Jesus said, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” (Luke 9:23)

A great reminder for all of us. That scripture mentioned here, Colossians 3:23-24 tells us that all that we do even in our everyday lives needs to be for His glory. Our mission field is anywhere God places us to impact people for Him.
