Reclaiming His Rainbow

I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign

When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
Genesis 9:13, 16 (NASB)

Covenants are important, they are solemn promises often with legal strength. Deeds of Covenant are written legal agreements between two parties, usually with reference to land or property. Another form of covenant is the wedding ring that many wear, a permanent reminder of the promise to love your spouse “through thick and thin” as the saying goes.

Almighty God made a permanent Covenant with the earth and its inhabitants never to flood it globally again, and ending all life. The binding proof of this over the generations is not a document, but a rainbow in the sky after a rainstorm. The sight of these are beautiful reminders of the integrity of Almighty God, an encouragement of His love for us, His children. Yet sinful men have stolen the rainbow image as a banner to celebrate their sinfulness in the Pride flag, with only six colours instead of God’s perfect seven.

Dear readers, let us boldy reclaim His rainbow as a holy covenant! It is our sign of hope in the love of God, through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Each time you see a rainbow after rain utter a prayer of thankfulness to your Father God who loves you.
