LIVE LIKE A SON

In almost every home in Africa where a son and a servant live under the same roof, the servant tends to live in fear, while the son grows in confidence. The servant works, as he thinks that he could be sacked or rebuked at any time for a petty mistake. Moreover, a servant forever thinks that he is underpaid and cannot make ends meet. However, the son lives assuredly, knowing that his father is his shield and the supplier of his needs.

This scenario illustrates that once we discover that we are all children of the Father—both servant and son—we shall all live like the son. The understanding of God as Father frees us from struggling with life and enables us to see that God is the provider. The Apostle Paul said, “… my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19).

In the parable of the prodigal son, the father told his elder son, who was angered by the favoritism he felt his father showed toward his younger brother, “Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.” (Luke15:29-31). Let this story deepen your understanding and appreciation for the fact that whatever God has is also ours. We cannot miss, or lack God’s provisions because we all live like the son.

Isaac Otieno was born to schoolteacher and a peasant mother. Once he finished school he found steady jobs to be scarce in Kenya. After several years of unsteady work he became depressed and developed a habit of drinking. By the grace of God he rededicated his life to Christ. While attending church he discovered that God had made him for a purpose. He was called to begin the ETERNAL FATHERHOOD CENTER in 2006. Isaac is married to God-given, Purity Jackline Otieno and has two grown daughters.Image by
