Essentials #2
In my youth, I was active in mountain search and rescue. As part of our training, we were taught to have a “find pack”, a bag specifically packed for when the subject is found. It contains first aid, flagging/marking items, energy bars and water. I asked if the snacks and water were for the subject. No, that is for the searcher. I thought this was a bit selfish. The subject is likely hungry. Yes, but you will be doing the extraction and you will need all the extra energy. You cannot become a liability and make the situation worse.
Now I see that this makes sense in my current calling discipling those in my circle. A discipler needs to take time for himself. Not as a reward or indulgence, but as part of his maintenance duty. He needs to be his best so as to give his best to others.
Disciples, take regular time for your own refreshment and recovery. It is not taking away from those you disciple. It is ensuring they receive the best.
Blessings,
