Tell them stories of how God worked in your life!
It’s Summertime. It’s a wonderful time of year for families to get together for family outings, and more- Great restaurant food, spending a week at the beach… I live 10 minutes from the Gulf of America. It’s beautiful here! And, of course, ice cream with your granddaughter or grandson is always a treat.
The time you have together with your grandchildren is often wonderful. Does it stop with sharing food, or looking at the scenery in a State or National Park?
Why not share stories of how God worked in your life?
Testimonies speak louder than telling them scriptures. Testimonies of what has done in your life touch people’s lives.
The Lord intervened in my life many times. I’m sharing this story with you now:
I needed a place to move to in 1986, almost 40 years ago, and the testimony speaks to me as strongly today as it did then. I had sold my townhouse/rowhouse two blocks inside Baltimore City. I couldn’t find a place to move. The Real Estate market was super busy, as mortgage rates fell from 14% earlier in the year to 10%. I couldn’t get a contract on a house to buy.
Being somewhat desperate but holding onto my faith, I asked God to teach me how to pray. The word of the Lord came to me three weeks after I prayed this prayer in early July. I said, “If You show me a house with fox on one side of me and a Wolf on the other, then I’ll know that is the house You have for me.”
I said this prayer in early July. My agent called me on July 27. He said, “I found a house for you that you might be interested in. Are you willing to move east of Harford Road outside the Baltimore Beltway? I hadn’t wanted to move that far east before then.
I told him I was open to anything.
My wife and I drove 25 miles across Baltimore and into the County to meet the agent. We followed him to the house at 9314 Shadycreek way in Carney, a Northeast Baltimore County suburb. The neighborhood was very nice, with three-year-old single-family homes.
I looked at the neighbors’ mailboxes when we arrived. The name on the mailbox at 9316 was Fox. The name on the mailbox at 9312 was Wolfe. “WE FOUND THE HOUSE,” my wife screamed.
I replied, “We haven’t been inside yet. We have to check it out.”
The house was in good condition overall. The kitchen floor needed replacing. The basement was unfinished. It was also half-sized. A crawl space took up the other half of the basement. The unfinished part was mostly above ground, though.
The bedrooms were small, but we were fine with that. The house had two full bathrooms. A beautiful yard was out back, with trees that kept us in privacy for the spring and summer months. It was perfect!
God provided for us. We moved in on September 26, 1986. Both of my children were born in that home. We had great times. My wife and I lived in that house for 14 years.
My testimony is, whenever you need God, He is there for you. “He does exceedingly abundantly above all you dare ask or think.”
We never know when our grandchildren need God’s help during difficult times. The Lord brings remembrance to them of how God has worked in our lives. Share testimonies with them. Put these testimonies in writing so they have a resource when it’s needed. There’s no limit to what God Northeast can do through you. Amen.
It’s another Memorial stone.
