There are two basic reasons people won’t get into Heaven. Both are shown in these verses. The first is that the door is narrow. Now, we know from other parts of the New Testament that the Lord desires everyone to be saved. But they won’t. The door is narrow to prevent things not allowed in Heaven from getting in. The narrow door filters out all types of sin.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14 NIV
There are people who want to have Jesus but also believe that some behaviors the Bible clearly shows as sinful are acceptable for Jesus followers. Sadly, they will be proven wrong when they die in their sin. Just because the world, or even some churches, decided to normalize a sin does not mean the Lord has changed the Truth.
When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us,’ then he will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ Luke 13:25 NIV
The other reason people won’t get into Heaven is that they waited too long. “When once the master of the house has risen and shut the door…” If we don’t seek Jesus before our death, or before His return if it precedes our death, then Heaven will not be our eternal home.
We will have chosen Hell. So seek Jesus sincerely, repenting from all sin, no matter what the world promotes, and seek Him while He may yet be found, before it is too late.
