Loving The Bible
(National Bible Week)
Our testimonies also are my delight;
They are my counselors.
Earlier this week, in our church Bible study I asked the question “do you love your Bible?” It was a question that had occurred to me earlier when I was reviewing my notes for the study; firstly as a personal question and then secondly as a question to ask folk, including you today. David’s words describing the word of God as a “delight” shows us that he loved God’s Word; indeed future verses in this famous psalm proclaim love more directly for God’s Word.
In our lives we are taught to read the Bible, and to revere it treating it with respect. Why would we not love it then? We love those who are dear to us, we love places, we love activities, we love music and we love books. We proclaim our love for God, His Son and the Holy Spirit…so why not our Bible?
Dear Reader, do you truly love the Word of God, the Bible in your hand that guides and encourages you each day? The Bible is the connection between us and the Triune God who loves us; it is His gift to us, guiding us each day. Your mobile device is only plastic and glass if it is not connected to a network; your Bible is forever connected to The Heavenly Network and always fully charged by the Holy Spirit. Hold your Bible lovingly brethren, thanking God for it often!
