No one really knows the heart of a man. Not even the man himself. Our hearts deceive us. It is God, and God alone, who understands our true heart–our motives and intentions. “Man looks on the outward appearance. God looks on the heart.”

This is why I do not, cannot, will not trust my own best thinking. I’m old enough to have seen the chaos my best thoughts have caused. Instead, once again today, by faith and experience, I choose to put all my hope in the trustworthiness of God and His Word.

I know that otherwise I’ll mess it up.

I’m serious: My worst day with Jesus has been infinitely better than my best day without Him.

Until we reach every man…
