Valentine’s Day: A Celebration of Love

Valentine’s Day is a special time to show love and appreciation for the people who matter most in our lives—whether that’s a partner, a friend, or family. While the holiday has its roots in ancient Roman and Christian traditions, today it’s a global celebration of connection and affection.

Saint Valentine, a figure who is often associated with love, was a priest who secretly married couples in a time when it was forbidden. His story reminds us of the power of love and sacrifice.

Though Valentine’s Day is often filled with cards, flowers, and candy, its true essence lies in expressing genuine love—sometimes through simple, thoughtful gestures rather than commercialized gifts.

The Bible speaks so beautifully about love, and I wanted to share a few verses that have always touched my heart:

  • “Love is patient, love is kind… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” — 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
  • “We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19
  • “Place me like a seal over your heart… for love is as strong as death.” — Song of Solomon 8:6-7
  • “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay.” — Ruth 1:16

Whether you’re in a relationship, a marriage, or simply reflecting on the love in your life, these verses remind us that love isn’t just a feeling, but a choice—a commitment that strengthens over time.

One of my favorite passages on love in relationships is from Ecclesiastes: “Two are better than one… a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. It speaks about the importance of support and unity in partnerships.

As we celebrate love this season, let’s not just think about romantic love, but also about the ways we can show kindness and devotion in all our relationships:

  • “Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
  • “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” — 1 Peter 4:8

Valentine’s Day is a reminder of the beautiful way we’re called to love one another—patiently, selflessly, and wholeheartedly. I hope this day brings you joy and that you’re surrounded by the love that you deserve.

With love and blessings,
