There are many things about God’s work we cannot understand

There are many things about God’s work we cannot understand through the front windshield of our life, but we can eventually see His fingerprints all over the rear-view mirror of our life. If God conceded me His omnipotence for 24 hours, I would make a few changes in the world but if He gave me His wisdom too, I would leave things as they are.

I vividly remember when my precious little beautiful son came home from the hospital. I would have done anything for him and still would. At three-days old, Donna and I were told to take Jonathan to the doctor for a jaundice test. The doctor said that blood needed to be drawn from my little guys heal. The doc pulled out the biggest needle I had ever seen and told me to hold Jonathan down. I will never forget that moment. Jonathan couldn’t talk but he looked up at me through tears and screams with eyes that said, “Save me from that needle and doctor! How can you be my dad and conspire with him?” It was impossible for Jonathan, at this moment, to grasp that my actions were 100% out of love and was 100% for his good. Indeed, within days my little boy was well and could get on with his life.

I wonder how often we are like this with our Abba Father. What is God doing? Is this in my best interest? Does He know how much this hurts? Is it possible for anything good to come from this? This is crushing me not making me!

Charles Spurgeon said, “God is too good to be unkind and He is too wise to be mistaken. And when we cannot trace His hand, we must trust His heart.”

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
