Like honey to a bee
Like honey to a bee, it’s tempting to enter the arena of splitting hairs on the non-essentials regarding our faith. Splitting theological hairs often leads to splitting personal relationships that once were life-giving and life-lifting.
Divide and conquer. It’s just one of many strategies the Enemy has launched against human-kind. The oldest trick in the Enemy’s playbook.
Paul speaks to the core of the matter. We are to “pursue the things which make for peace and the building up on one another.” We need fewer armchair theologians and more street level lovers of people.
Today, look past the non-essentials and see the person in front of you in 3D. What is their story? What drives their tendency toward hairsplitting conflict? Find the gold in those hills and overwhelm them with love, mercy, and grace. Refuse to split hairs and pursue peace.
We need fewer armchair theologians and more street level lovers of people – Pastor Jimmy
For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For the one who serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God and approved by other people. So then we pursue the things [a]which make for peace and the building up of one another. Romans 14:17-19 (NASB)
