TAKING SERIOUSLY the Great Commission commanded by Jesus our Lord:
Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””
The Holy Spirit has led me to pursue the mission of encouraging “Professing Christians” to read and study their Bibles individually, spending quiet time alone with God, using only prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit:
John 16:12-15 NIV
““I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.””
And forsaking the reading of other books such as commentaries, famous pastor’s books and books authored by other Christian writers.
My opinion is that these extra-biblical books interfere with the Holy Spirit’s work of helping us to interpret God’s word, and also discourage the reader from “wrestling with God” to understand God’s intended meaning(s) concerning difficult-to-understand passages of scripture.
My desire is that everyone will become serious bible study students, by making certain that they have the indwelling Holy Spirit:
Luke 11:11-13 NIV
““Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!””
Without which we cannot have a genuine faith in Jesus the Messiah and be saved from God’s wrath in judgment…
Or know the Great I Am, the Creator, Sustainer and Savior of all who believe.
May God Almighty, the only True and Faithful God, the One who sent his Son, bless you immensely as you seek to know him better by the reading of his word.
