Everything you Watch

Everything you watch, everything you read, everything you look at throughout your day brings within you either light or darkness. There are some things you see over which you have no control, but most of what you see is within your power to allow or deny to be seen by your eyes. So I’ll ask you, not what is available to your line of vision, but what do you allow yourself to look at? I learned many years ago that I don’t have to look at everything that shows up in my world…and that I often have the choice to not allow it at all. There are many, many movies and TV shows that I simply will not watch. Why? Because I know they will bring darkness into my eyes, and then it will impact the state of my heart and my relationship with the Lord. The same is true of books, magazines, and websites. Much of the darkness we encounter in our lives is self-inflicted. It seems we like to see just how close we can get to the darkness and not be overwhelmed by it. Can I ask you a question? What darkness is creeping into your heart through your eyes? Is it really something you need in your life, or is it a distraction, does it pull you away from your Savior? I challenge you to ask the Lord to reveal any sources of darkness, and to follow His direction in casting them out of your life.
