Discipleship In Action – Part 3
Speaking The Truth In Love
Without a doubt, words spoken can either have a blessing effect or destructive consequences. We actually witness this day after day in our world that is presently so polarized, that it is difficult to make any sense of it.
As disciples of Christ, how are we to control our tongue, our words? Jesus in Matthew 12:36-37 warned us, “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
We must always remember that our words carry a serious responsibility, as we are His witnesses to the world. The reason Paul said in Ephesians 4:29, “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”
Then in Colossians 4:6 Paul added, “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” As well, Proverbs 25:11 adds, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”
A clear indication that while we may speak the truth of God, it should always be an attitude of love.
Do I share Christ’s characteristic of being truthful in love, and understand our responsibility to be His witnesses and disciples?

What André Gourd started out as a daily message to his sons in 2019, has grown into daily messages to all who wish to receive them. While he didn’t have a clue he was to share these messages with the world, the Lord put on his heart in 2020 to do so. The purpose of his daily messages is to remind those of us who know Christ as Savior and Lord, that He is present in this world and in our lives. André desires to keep each one “Short and To The Point,” so you will take time to read them. They are NOT related to opinion. They simply “Point to Scripture.” He leaves us with a one sentence “Challenge thought” to help us live out our commitment to focus on Christ and live by His word. If you desire to read more of his scripture challenges you will find him at Christ At The Helm.
