That Dent In My Head Reminds Me
Reflections on a brain tumor
One sunny Sunday afternoon I woke up from a nap unable to control my left leg . . . a grand mal seizure rocked my world. I found out that I had a tennis ball sized brain tumor pushing against the control center deep in my brain.
Funny thing. I never once worried about it. I probably should have. The surgeon said I might have to relearn how to walk and talk . . . not something a pastor can easily live with. Maybe life altering problems to deal with. But neither of those things happened. Two days after the surgery I walked into a Mexican restaurant in Decatur, IN to eat lunch with my family. I enjoyed a full recovery.
I figured that God wasn’t finished with me yet. And the dent reminds me that He still isn’t.
