The Christian life is all about change.
The character of man is decided by his conduct. If our trust in God does not lead us to act for the benefit of others in need, can we really say that we trust God? Salvation is not simply about deliverance from the penalty of sin, but also from the power of sin. Repentance is about turning one’s life around. Life is moving in a different direction. Those who are truly saved by faith will reveal it by their lifestyle. We can’t just add Christ to a sinful life. Simply hearing God’s Word has no lasting value, unless we open the Bible, and do what it says.
However, opposition from within arises when we desire to obey Christ. Deep within us, is a voice screaming to ignore God’s voice and to give in to the voice of our selfish desires. It is at this point, we have to examine our lives, to obey the Word of God, we must exercise self-control. I believe how we choose to live is an infallible reflection of what we believe. What is in our heart, governs our behavior.
In Matthew chapter 7, Jesus said that “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.” He goes on to say that “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits.”
Therefore, how we live is the infallible test. In fact, Scripture tells us that if we are not being converted then we have not been regenerated. Satan is not only a liar, he’s a murderer, using his false teachers, intent on perverting the Gospel, damning undiscerning souls to Hell. Scripture is replete with warning after warning, many assuming they’re headed to Heaven by the broad way with the wide gate.
Jesus couldn’t have made it any clearer, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
One of the biggest challenges for every Christian can be summed up in a single word: Obedience. It is not enough to hear the Word, God expects us to take the next step and to obey His Word.
James 1:22, “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.”
When you attempt to construct a faith on anything else but obedience to the Word of God, your effort is folly. It’s unfortunate that so many Christians today have difficulty understanding that the bottom line is, there is no salvation in the message of the pastor, who has more interest in filling the collection plate than telling you the truth.
The Word of God is a mirror, it reflects who we really are, not who we imagine ourselves to be. You can turn from our sin to serve the One true living God or serve Satan, clinging to your sin, deceiving yourselves. God help the man who forgets about what he saw in the mirror.

Brian Monzón grew up attending church with his grandmother. Through her actions, she impressed upon him the power of the prayers of the righteous, as she herself spent many hours kneeling before God, praying for her family and the needs of others. Besides being a pastor, Brian has been studying and teaching the Word of God for many years. He has devoted his life to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, praying with and for others, especially the unsaved. Brian is also a proud father of four children. He challenges them to be their best and has strived to raise his family up in church and on the Word of God. To discover more about Brian and his ministry please visit Brian Monzón Ministries.
