Rejecting Doubt and Fear

Doubt is the enemy’s way of making us call into question to trust God when facing difficult circumstances, and as a result our minds tend to focus on fear as opposed to trusting God.

What are God’s promises however to those who trust Him at His Word? Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Jeremiah 29:11-13: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

Deuteronomy 7:9: “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.”

Psalm 46:1-2: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.”

Therefore

Psalm 50:15: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Do I trust God with my life, so I stand on His promises no matter the circumstances of life?

How did Jesus enjoin us to trust God and not doubt or fear?

John 14:27: “ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

John 16:33: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

As Jesus was in the boat with His disciples a storm came up and they became fearful. He said to them:

Matthew 8:26: “ Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.”

When Thomas doubted that Jesus had resurrected, Jesus said to him:

John 20:29: “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

As well Jesus said:

John 14:1: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”

Therefore:

Matthew 6:34: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Is Christ Lord of my life, so I wholeheartedly trust Him and not doubt or fear?

Why must we trust God and diligently seek Him?

Galatians 3:26: “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 2:10: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Romans 5:5: “Because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”

2 Corinthians 5:7: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” What’s more?

1 John 4:18: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

James 1:6-8: “He who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

Therefore:

Romans 15:4: “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”

Psalm 27:1: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Do I diligently seek and trust God, so I live and walk by faith in following Christ as Lord?

How must I live to trust God, no matter the circumstances of life?

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Philippians 4:6-7: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 6:10-12: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Therefore:

Hebrews 4:16: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Do I embrace the presence of God in my life and put on His armor, so I live to trust Him at all times and through all circumstances of life?

What must we avoid and how must we live in order to not be deceived by the enemy and live to the glory of God?

Ephesians 5:6: “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.” Therefore:

1 Peter 5:8: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

Ephesians 4:13-15: “Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.”

Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Am I always on guard against the deceptions of the world so I live to follow Christ?

What is the purpose of living by faith in Christ?

Ephesians 3:17-19: “That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Understanding that:

1 John 4:9: “The love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.”

How?

Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Therefore:

Hebrews 10:35-36: “Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.”

And…

Romans 8:28: “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Do I trust God wholeheartedly so I live to follow Christ steadfastly?

How does the Word of God describe the power of faith?

2 Corinthians 12:9: “He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Romans 8:38-39: “I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Psalm 3:3: “You, O LORD, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.” Why?

Psalm 5:12: “For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.”

1 John 5:4: “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

Therefore:

Mark 9:23: “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Romans 1:16: “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”

How powerfully is my life impacted by my faith in Christ?

What André Gourd started out as a daily message to his sons in 2019, has grown into daily messages to all who wish to receive them. While he didn’t have a clue he was to share these messages with the world, the Lord put on his heart in 2020 to do so. The purpose of his daily messages is to remind those of us who know Christ as Savior and Lord, that He is present in this world and in our lives. André desires to keep each one “Short and To The Point,” so you will take time to read them. They are NOT related to opinion. They simply “Point to Scripture.” He leaves us with a one sentence “Challenge thought” to help us live out our commitment to focus on Christ and live by His word. If you desire to read more of his scripture challenges you will find him at Christ At The Helm
