My Monday Morning Cup | On Being Grateful

I saw a meme the other day that said “Brace yourself. There are 30 days of thankful posts coming.”

Gratitude can be a funny thing. I believe an attitude of gratitude helps us keep a lowly perspective and therefore breeds humility. Humility rests in our willingness to submit to God and seek what delights Him versus feeding our own selfish appetites.

This is the day that the Lord has made;

let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24 (ESV)

Yes, we are entering into a season of thankfulness and gratitude. I think this helps keep us sane. In our world, it is easy to focus on what’s wrong and totally miss what’s right. Gratitude turns our sights from our problems to our blessings.

I deal with people daily whose lives are on fire. Some of their stories are gut wrenching and heart breaking. Truthfully, I am mortified by a few of their stories. It can be challenging to see the good in life. Yet, I have seen too much not to be grateful. I’ve experienced too much not to be thankful. And yes, because of God pulling me up from the pit, I have plenty of reason to sing His praises.

How about you? What are you grateful for in your life?

I am grateful for you, dear reader. I am humbled by your willingness to take the time to read my posts and grateful for your comments, words of encouragement, and engagement with what I share here on my blog.

May the Lord bless you today. May His favor shine on you today. May you know what it is to be loved by God and Creator.

Blessings,
