But God Remembered Noah
I remember this post from the 1st November this year, which had 139 reads making it the most read post of 2023. I can understand why it is so popular; there is something deeply profound about the hope that shines from the words “But God!” It speaks clearly of a loving and righteous God intervening in the lives of desperately lost humanity; that is what Christmas is all about Dear Reader. Across the pages of eternity He provides a Way for all men – His name is Jesus – He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. You may have wandered away and forgotten the Way, “but God” has not forgotten you!
BUT GOD REMEMBERED NOAH AND ALL THE BEASTS AND ALL THE CATTLE THAT WERE WITH HIM IN THE ARK; AND GOD CAUSED A WIND TO PASS OVER THE EARTH, AND THE WATER SUBSIDED.

In my reading from Thru The Bible yesterday from Ephesians 2 I was struck by the immensity of the words “But God” (verses 4-5); these two small words sit on the fence between the sin and salvation of mankind’s life, God being the the Redeemer. I stopped and meditated upon this short powerful statement of hope; it then occurred to me that there might be more “But God” verses in the Bible. To my delight I found out that was the case, and that it is often linked to remembrance such as in our verse today.
It has been suggested that Noah, his family and the animals were afloat for five months in the ark. Who knows, maybe Noah wondered if God had forgotten them. But God is a covenant keeping God, and did not forget Noah and the animals – God loves His creatures. This is the same as what we read hundreds of years later in Ephesians; for that is also tied to a covenant – one of Grace. Take note of how much time passes for Noah before God “remembered” Noah; He still kept His promise in His perfect time – the same is true for us today.
Dear Reader, men may forget us and let us down in life. The royal cupbearer to Pharaoh forgot Joseph’s kindness to him and did not keep his promise (Genesis 40:14,23). Even worse than that is that men forget the blessings of God in their lives, and drift away from Him as Israel did on countless occasions (Judges 3:7, Jeremiah 3:21). Sadly, today we are no different than the ancient Israelites; we often drift away into the pleasures of this world as a boat drifts on a current. “But God,” our Anchor is still in the business of saving souls – as He remembered Noah He remembers you today.
