We must walk the walk among others.

Titus 2:11-15

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds. These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.”

When the founder of Wal-Mart, Sam Walton, died, he left his family a fortune that made them, collectively, the second wealthiest family in the world. However, if Sam Walton had an heir who rejected his inheritance, no one would force that person to accept it. Though the provision would have already been made, the heir would have had to accept it to receive the benefit from it.

More than 2,000 years ago, on a rough and rugged cross, at a place just outside Jerusalem called Golgotha, God the Father allowed His “only begotten Son” to become the sacrifice for the sin of all mankind. Nothing speaks more clearly, more profoundly of God’s perfect love than the cross of Jesus Christ. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the corner stone, the arch, of salvation.

Paul’s reminding Titus of his duty in relation to the doctrine is laid out in verses 1-14. In verse 15, he says these are not merely helpful suggestions but divine commands. God has given His called servants the right to speak His commands with His Authority.

Something, I believe that the Christian leaders of today, must be reminded of is that authority and exemplary behavior are in inseparable! False teachers are certainly nothing new to Christianity. and though many of them have been exposed, there are still people continue to hang on their every word, causing are upset and chaos within the church.

In spite of all the troubles that are occurring in the church, there are still good things going on. The goal of Christian living is to please the Father, and the bi-product is that it will silence the opponents of Christ and Christianity.

However, we must first know what God expects of His children in order to identify those who are an those who are not truly in the faith. Thankfully, God through His Word shows us exactly what He expects from each of us. Our job as Christians, is to point people to Christ, but that includes being a visible witness as well, meaning our lives and behavior must point people to Him as well.

In other words, we must walk the walk before people will be willing to listen to us talk the talk! I believe, this is one of the biggest issues plaguing the church today. Bearing fruit is not a suggestion, it is a command!

Brian Monzón grew up attending church with his grandmother. Through her actions, she impressed upon him the power of the prayers of the righteous, as she herself spent many hours kneeling before God, praying for her family and the needs of others. Besides being a pastor, Brian has been studying and teaching the Word of God for many years. He has devoted his life to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, praying with and for others, especially the unsaved. Brian is also a proud father of four children. He challenges them to be their best and has strived to raise his family up in church and on the Word of God. To discover more about Brian and his ministry please visit Brian Monzón Ministries.
