Welcome to Baby Girl

Dear Kaia, “Baby Girl”:

Today is one of the proudest days of my life, the day of your birth. Hopefully, you’ll understand what I’m saying a generation from now when it’s your turn to give birth. You’ll be overcome with joy.

It was so wonderful the day your Mom and your Uncle David were born. Your Mom came out and cried, cried, cried for a bit. Then she got cleaned up by the nurse and put in your Grandmother’s arms. You mother’s fingers were so small, cute and blue. But she was so adorable! Your Mom made my heart melt. I was in love. ♥

Uncle David was born six years later. That was an exciting day, too. When he came out, he stared at everything! He never cried that day. He was taking it all in. I loved him, too. ♥

One of the thrills I experienced the day your mother was born came when I called my step-grandmother, Grandmommie. Imagine a grown man like me, 36 at the time your Mom was born, calling his step-grandmother, Grandmommie. She was sweet. I almost broke down in tears telling her she was a great-grandmother for the first time. This happened on March 5, 1991. The weather was beautiful that day, too.

Your whole family and I are overjoyed that you arrived in this world. We’re glad to see you for the first time. We will do everything to make your life special and enjoyable, everything God intended it to be.

Your Mom went through a hard time when she was in college. She was overwhelmed with her studies and she wanted to drop out of school. I listened to her and asked if she had another plan for her life. She did have a plan, and I said I would support her even if her plan would mean she was not as successful.

Her plan turned out to be very successful. This benefited you, too, because she worked hard.

We, your whole family are here for you. God has a plan for your life and we want you to succeed. Much love. God and we will support you every step of the way. Much love, BABY GIRL! Xoxoxo

Granddad

This is a sample letter for grandfathers, a Memorial Stone. I am Richard Szalecki, pronounced, “Sah-LEH-key.” Kaia Hallford is expected to come into this world on or about February 12. I am excited!
I wanted to share this letter as an example of how you can write a testimonial letter to your grandchildren they’ll always remember.
