Hebrews 13:7-9, “Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.”
Many churches and church goers alike, have chosen to ignore the clear teachings of God’s Word, as pastors preach cultural messages of “follow your heart, live your own truth and you be you, God didn’t make any mistakes. The result is we have created a Burger King Jesus, a “Have It Your Way” relationship with Christ based on our own morality. Sin and immorality are the products of Satan, who is controlling the minds of men following their pride and lusts, rather than Jesus.
2 Timothy 4:3-4, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.”
As Christians, we have the privilege, and permanent obligation, to live to the glory of God, rather than the worldly and ungodly, to serve Him and not ourselves. In Christ, our lives have a far greater significance, to glorify God and exalt Jesus.
We live in a society that is trying to redefine the way people view certain issues by desensitizing the culture through overexposure, bombarding our minds with culturally sensitive issues and images in an attempt to normalize and promote ungodly behavior, undermining rational thinking. The strategy is taking the illogical argument against the issue and making the argument against the person themselves by attacking their character.
Satan’s number one tactic is to deceive, and he is damn good at it, because he’s been doing it since the beginning of creation! He’s become somewhat of an expert, if you will.
We cannot force our godly beliefs on society, nor can we allow an ungodly society to influence our biblical beliefs, succumbing to the pressure of what the current culture deems as relevant. While the morals of corrupt culture may change, God’s Word never does. Therefore, the church MUST address biblical issues of immorality biblically, and not on an emotional basis.
We must proclaim Christ, the same Jesus of the Bible, the One Who died on the cross for the forgiveness of sin, not one who is tolerant and accepting of sin. We must speak the truth! Not in condemnation, standing in judgement of what we know is wrong, but in love, but with the same grace and compassion, that we ourselves have been given. Anyone who supports an unbiblical view on sin and immorality is not a Christian but a heretic.
Repent, believe the Gospel of Christ for the forgiveness of sin. Salvation is not for those who think they’re good enough to go to heaven, it’s for those who know they’re not.
