Contented With Him
Surely, I have composed and quieted my soul;
Like a weaned child rests against his mother,
My soul is like a weaned child within me.
Psalm 131:2 (NASB)
Wednesday is our weekly visit from our daughter and grandson, which requires some preparation. Toys are brought out and other items are put out of reach, higher than previous weeks. But this week our wee lad wasnβt well, and nothing could console him, apart from snuggling into his mum. It was sad to see him unwell, but it was a beautiful thing to see our daughter being a loving mum and doing it well. This reminded me of the above verse in Psalm 131 which I had read earlier that morning.
As a Christian of many years, I am no longer dependent on what would have satisfied me as a new believer; the milk of the Word has given way to the meat of the Word (1 Cor. 3:2). I am contented in the Word of God and in the bosom of my Father God, whatever the world sends my way. My soul is contented within me; not by my abilities, but by the presence of Father God in whom I depend.
Let Us Pray: Dear Father, thank You for Your comforting presence each day. In times of strife, guide us by Your Word and assure us by Your closeness. “In You,” let us be calm, Amen.
