This problem has plagued the church

Oh beloved, this problem has plagued the church from the very beginning. People who are in the church, even some who lead in churches, but continue to live sinful lives. The problem isn’t when we sin and sincerely repent and change our ways. The problem is when we see our sin as the exception and believe that we can still have fellowship with the Lord while disobeying the word of God in the New Testament.

As Paul says, Jesus followers don’t have responsibility to judge those outside the church, but we are called to correct false teaching that says continued, unrepentant sin is allowable for the children of God. What sin then can keep you from eternal life with Jesus in Heaven? Any sin that a person decides is not sin and in which the person lives in intentional denial of the clear word of God. If I have to attempt to manipulate the word of God or to explain it away to justify my sinful choices, then

I am in grave danger of walking away from my salvation. Let’s be clear, a true Christ follower cannot accidentally lose their salvation, but they can absolutely intentionally leave it and get back on the path of eternal destruction. And how does that happen? Living in intentional, unrepentant sin. And what is the cure? Coming back to the Lord in humble repentance, having our mind renewed in the truth by the Holy Spirit, and living a holy life through His power.
