The Master Gardener
And the Lord will continually guide you,
And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones.
And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. “
Isaiah 58:11 (NASB)
Yesterday was a satisfying day in our house, it saw the final jobs completed in our long running garden project. The perimeter fences were pressure washed and repainted a pleasing oak color. We only need some sunshine now to enjoy it. Another highlight is the flowering of our wee Cherry Blossom tree; we weren’t sure if it would after being ravaged with a fungal infection last year soon after planting. I really thought that it was done for at one point but decided to give it another chance. I pruned it back hard, cutting all the infection out and watering it well.
As I looked on it lovingly today it reminded me of my Father God’s care for me; the number of times He has taken His pruning shears to me, cutting out the sinful fungus. Afterwards He has watched me sprout new healthy shoots born from His Word watering my roots. What a loving God we serve.
Dear reader, are you like a wee Cherry Blossom tree in the hands in the hands of Father God – the Master Gardener? Have you surrendered yourself to His tender care, and even the necessary pruning of His shears? Bring your repentant heart to Him and He will cut away the fungus of sin, water your spirit in prayer and His Word. In time new buds of divine life will shoot up, bringing new life where sin once lurked.
