His Hand in The Moment
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
PSALM 32:8 (NASB)
In my view life is nothing like a box of chocolates, sorry Forrest. Boxes of chocolates usually are made to exact sizes and standards; they all look alike if all has gone well in the factory. A more accurate description of life can be seen at the seashore; no two waves are the same and the surf varies in strength. Our life on this earth is just like the surf, following the tide of time but with varied results – good times and bad times. Either we have a bad hour or two, or we have a bad day or two; by contrast we could have a good spell that cheers our heart. As a Christian I believe the currents and swells that drive the waves of our life have a spiritual significance.
As children of God, we follow His guidance each day, reading His Word and seeking Him in prayer. Our daily life varies with our circumstances, but our Father God does not vary in His care and guidance for us. Almighty God is unchangeable throughout history and our life. His Spirit guides us through life, that we may fulfill His purposes each day. An example I often share with others is in how He guides my writing process; there are times when devotionals are written quickly with little effort, and some of the content even surprises me. I know at such times that I am only the scribe, and it is the Holy Spirit who composes the message. In contrast there are times when I begin a devotional and really struggle with it, the words just will not flow…in such cases I have set it aside or even deleted it completely. It is the very same process in daily life; when things just fall into place or become impossible to conclude – God is speaking in the situation.
Dear reader, how is your walk with God your Father today? Are you serving with ease or are you struggling with your task today? Can you recognize His hand in your life today; can you hear His Spirit through your prayers? Seek Him before your day starts, and regularly throughout the day, asking Him for His guiding hand.
