Forgive!
Today is Global Forgiveness Day, Friday, July 7th, 2023
DAILY VERSE
Then Peter came up and said to Him, “Lord, how many times shall my brother sin against me and I still forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus *said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy-seven times. Matthew 18:21-22 (NASB)
DEVOTION
We’re living through some very strange times. One of the most disturbing new trends is “cancel culture”. This trend threatens anyone that doesn’t agree with a certain viewpoint. People have been harassed, fired from their jobs, had their livelihoods ruined, all for something they’d said currently or even in the past.
If you ever question someone’s relationship to God, look at the fruit they bear. This new cultural trend is the complete opposite of forgiveness and certainly is nowhere near the way God has called us to react to others. To forgive acknowledges the fact that we’ve all fallen short. Everyone deserves to be forgiven.
Self-reflection and humbleness are the marks of someone who has been saved by grace. Choose to forgive and throw off the chains this world creates.
