How can a sinner be saved from the judgment to come? Part 2
Part 2: How much do you know about this subject: How can a sinner be saved from the judgment to come? Yesterday, in Part 1, we studied the biblical answer to the question. In Part 2 we will look at this verse through the eyes of a child.
Today’s Verse represents God’s last biblical invitation to the sinner for salvation. It is proof that God is interested to the end in the salvation of sinners!
During a sermon the preacher explained this verse to his audience. The church did not have air conditioning. The auditorium was terribly hot. From time to time the pastor would pause to take a drink of water! Oh, it was hot!
A little boy sat on the third row. He had never before attended a church service. Every time the preacher took a drink he repeated, “Whosoever will, let him come and take of the water of life freely.” The boy finally decided that if the preacher offered the water one more time that he would accept the preacher’s offer!
Just then the preacher uttered the words one more time. The little boy immediately left his seat and walked up to the pulpit. The audience and the preacher watched in wide-eyed amazement as the youngster picked up the glass and took a deep swallow of water.
The boy then said, “Thank you, preacher,” and he returned to his seat.
That story explains saving faith very well! Salvation is ours for the taking! The boy knew the problem, the solution, and the offer…and he accepted the offer of water! God does the first three steps in salvation: revealing the problem, the solution, and the offer. But, as explained in Part 1, the offer of salvation must be appropriated by the sinner. And when the sinner “takes the offer” he finds it to be “water of LIFE…new life…raised to walk in newness of life…put on the new man which is created in righteousness and holiness…a new creation!” Thank God, it’s true!
Don’t complicate your presentation of the gospel. As explained above, it should be so simple that even a child can understand it. And he did!
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:17
