In The Garden With Jesus
He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” John 20:15-16 ESV
I was on my knees pulling weeds in the garden and the sun was beginning to take its toll on me. But I pressed on, imagining that I could soon stop for a nice tall glass of iced tea and a spot in the shade for lunch. Then just behind my head I heard a loud buzzing and I jumped to my feet, afraid that the biggest bee in the world was about to sting me! Then I saw the flash of the hummingbird. He must have been patiently waiting for me to move away from his favorite flower, so He could have his own lunch! I laughed in relief and amazement as he quickly flitted away into the nearby bushes. I had almost missed seeing the hummingbird while my hands pulling weeds and it is too easy for us to miss a Savior who waits for me every day in the garden of prayer. Jesus has been waiting for us all there since Eden. When Mary saw Him, she thought that He was the gardener and In a way she was right. Because the one who had planted a garden in Eden, and watered it with tears at Gethsemane, was now risen and calling her by name just as He is calling ours this morning.
