Is It Time to Take Them Off?

When the young shepherd boy, David, volunteered to take out the Philistine Champion who defied the armies of God, Saul kindly offered David his custom crafted tunic, armor and sword. However, Saul’s armor did not fit young David, so David took them off. David had to face the giant in what God had uniquely given him.

Sometimes, we try to wear Saul’s armor by trying to accomplish God’s assignments by copying or mimicking what others are doing. We grow weary and discouraged trying to live life using “Saul’s armor.” We too have to “take them off” and go with what God has uniquely given us.

You are one of a kind. God has equipped you with your own tunic, armor and sword. They are unique to you and no one else can wear yours. On the other hand, you cannot wear their’s.

Pray and ask the Holy Spirit, “In what areas of my life am I trying to wear “Saul’s armor?” Give me Your grace to ‘take them off’ so that I can be who you have uniquely called and equipped me to be. Amen.” Now engage your day with your own God-given armor and see what God can do through you. – Jimmy

As an idealist, his words are filtered through his spirituality with the expectation that he will encourage and inspire people to “Live Up in a Down World.” He is committed to being an authentic person in all he does. Because everyone has been through something, or is currently struggling, Jimmy believes the proper response to life is humility; it is the signature of Jesus bringing forth both pain and glory. He and his way better half, Annette, have been married for30 years. Agreeing their family is amazing, placing “Fun” in dys-Fun-ctional. They have three adult children and seven grandchildren that bless their lives beyond what they could ever dream. He is currently Lead Pastor at Bridge Church Fredericksburg, TX, and has started a new podcast titled: “Living Up in a Down Word – Making Faith real for the rest of us.”
