IT’S ALL ABOUT US.
YOUNG, STRONG, INVINCIBLE.
MOST WILL START THIS WAY…
BECOMING PRIDEFUL, BOASTFUL, SENSUAL, SELFISH AND ARROGANT.
IT’S ALL ABOUT US.
WE ARE THE ONLY “KING” IN OUR LIFE.
We’re self made, and God, our Creator, plays no part in the wayward thoughts of our hearts.
We are sinners before we know what sin is.
A failure here and a disappointment there and sooner or later we realize our limited capabilities.
We hear about Jesus and the gospel message through family members, friends, neighbors or coworkers; Death, judgment and the eternal accountability that awaits are presented along with the message about a Savior who made a way for our consideration. THE ONLY WAY.
God’s Spirit is alive and active, calling us to repentance and into an eternal relationship.
To show us that our ways are not right and our current path is leading to eternal punishment and destruction.
We need to change. We need help, God’s help.
God loves us but can’t leave us in our sinful condition...or we would never be able to live in his presence.
He doesn’t want anyone to perish but everyone to repent.
But he’s not forcing anyone. It’s our choice.
He will respect our decision.
We need to acknowledge our sinful state and put our faith in the finished work of Jesus the Messiah on the cross who paid our sin debt. He died a substitutionary death, taking our place, and freeing us from a debt we could never pay.
However, there is a cost to us; The complete surrender of our life to his will is a requirement.
And there’s work that still needs to be done.
Our work begins when we surrender our lives to Jesus:
”For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.“ Ephesians 2:10 NIV
His mission in the world will continue until the end of the age. He wants to save all who come willingly. As true believers, we become part of his mission; Making disciples, baptizing, teaching others to obey and remaining strong in our faith until the end.
Paul, Peter, James, Jude and all the writers of the New Testament prepare us to lead a life of growth and commitment guided by the Holy Spirit.
And we will experience persecution and hardships for following in his footsteps and obeying his teachings.
As “professing Christians” we need to be reading the Bible in order to grow in faith, knowledge and mission. Where else will we learn what God has revealed?
Spiritual maturity is a long narrow road. Many battles between our fleshly nature and the indwelling Holy Spirit await us, refining our faith. The world will likely oppose us every step of the way.
Prayer, reading the word of God and letting the Holy Spirit lead day-by-day keeps us moving forward toward maturity, God’s intention for our lives.
This is all preparation for the moment we see him face to face; The finish line!
May the Lord bless you and guide you on your journey to know him better through the work of his Spirit.
