Regular Meds
This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Joshua 1:8 (NASB)
As I sit down to write about the Bible today, I am reminded again of my dear Godly grandmother, she is never far from my memory. Amongst the Bible stories and gospel songs she shared with me was one called “Wonderful Words of Life,” it was clear to me as a boy that she really loved her Bible – these “Words of Life” were precious to her. Years later I can now say myself that I love these life-giving words; they are meds for my soul.
This morning I took my regular medication, which soothe my pains and protect me from infection amongst other things. Some folk take medication every day for their heart, without it their heart would be out of rhythm and make them very unwell. These medications are prescribed for specific conditions by doctors who know the patient. My Heavenly Father, Almighty God is my great Physician of my soul. Today’s verse was His prescription for Joshua and for each of us; it is the best heart medication ever known!
Dear reader, I take my meds every day for my body and also my meds for my soul – His Words of Life. As I age, I know that His Word benefits me when I digest them daily, thus I am glad to seek and read them regularly. How is your relationship with your Bible today; are you seeking the “Words of Life” every day?
