Words from the New Testament

If this reads more like words from the New Testament it’s because many of us mistakenly believe that somehow God was not compassionate before Jesus came. God has always sought reconciliation with the people He created. God has always been ready to forgive sin. Yes, there are difficult passages to understand and questions we do not have answers to in relation to the Old Testament. But in the very next verses the Lord reminds us that His thoughts and ways are both different and higher than our own. There are things we cannot understand with our limited minds…but when we go to be with Christ we will be able to learn and understand. Even amidst the questions we can see this truth, the love of God did not start when Jesus came to earth. God has loved us with an everlasting love and has always wanted His created people to return to Him. God is unchanging, always loving and always compassionate, ready to be reconciled to those who seek Him. Come to Him while you live or you will miss out on His eternal joy and suffer eternal pain. And may I say, if you’re exclusively reading the New Testament, you’re missing out on much of the history, wisdom, truth, and love that God has provided for you through the Old Testament.

“Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call upon him while he is near;
let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Isaiah 55:6-7 ESV
