Thought For Today: “An Endless War”

Believers in Jesus Christ will experience constant attacks from Satan. Satan literally has all the powers of evil are lined up against us. The Apostle Paul reveals the nature of our attackers.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Further, in such a war there is no intermission, there is no let up. Any retreat on the part of Satan is merely a gathering of reinforcements, or to develop a new strategy to renew the onslaught.

This was his strategy against Jesus. After Jesus defeated him, it says that Satan waiting until the timing was more in his favor.

“When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.” (Luke 4:13)

We must, therefore, put on the whole armor of God and have our weapons fixed so that we can stand and not run when the attacks come (Ephesians 6:10-18). We must also wait and trust in God’s promise that “those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

This could not come at a more timely manner. This will be an encouragement to my daughter, as well, who’s family is under tremendous spiritual attack with what they are going through at this time. I have learned that putting on the armor of God is not a one-time thing or occasionally when things are hard; it is daily. No soldier in battle would take off his weaponry when he doesn’t currently see the enemy approaching; he keeps it on to always be prepared for the enemy’s launches. How much more are we to be armed at all times in the spiritual realm. And we must always remember that “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). It is God who gives us the strength and will give us the victory.

It’s like I said on Sunday, it’s time to armor up and get ready for the battle. Thanks Debbie, take care and God bless.
