Prayer For a Grandchild at Her Birth

Prayer for Grandchild at her birth.

Dear God our Father, our Creator, thank you for your loving attention today.

Did You end creation on the sixth day? After the light broke free and the stars began to sing the fish and birds sprang from the sea. When Adam finished naming the animals and he woke to find a mate did you say “It’s very good! I’m done!”

I don’t think so. You’ve created something new today, the child of my child was born.

Today light from a loving mother and father fell on her brand-new eyes. The first thing that touched her was her mother’s warm skin. The first hands that held her had a father’s protection. The first words she heard was a song of Jesus’ Love.

For this we thank You.

We’re asking You for wisdom to teach her about your way. Our prayers are for her protection even when our efforts fail. When we come up short as humans often do, we’re asking for You to lead her where she should go.

One last creation we ask of You, when the time is right and her heart is drawn by Your Spirit that you will create in my grandchild. . . a new heart.

In Jesus Name. Amen.
