Let Kindness Be Our Superpower

In a recent conversation, a friend reminded me of the power a kind word can have on the life of another human being. We live in a world that can be unbearably cruel and incredibly unkind. As believers, Jesus beseeches us to love one another. Truly, the greatest way I know for us to demonstrate that love is to be kind to each other. We need more gentleness and humility. We need more mercy and grace. We need to be more ready to forgive than we are to incite and inflame. We simply need to be kinder. Jesus taught us that people will know us by the love we show. I believe that begins by being kind. As my friend said so eloquently, “Rainer, kindness is free.”

So I pray that kindness would be our superpower.

Inspired by my recent experiences and conversations, I wrote a poetic prayer. I hope it is a blessing to you as you read it.

Dear Lord,

In a world that can often feel harsh and unkind, I come to You with a humble and heartfelt request. I pray for kindness to abound in every heart, in every place, everywhere, all around.

May we speak the language of kindness, both in our words and through our deeds. Help us, O God, be kind to the strong and to the weak.

ay kindness be a force that unites us all, breaking down barriers, great and small, close and afar.

Help us, O Lord, to see the good in others, to love our neighbors, our sisters, and our brothers.

Empower us to show compassion, empathy, and care. Help us demonstrate Christ’s love by lending a helping hand and always being fair.

Holy Spirit, teach us how to be patient, understanding, slow to anger, quick to forgive.

Help us, Jesus, choose love over hate.

May we be peacemakers. Help us bring reason and calm to places where turmoil and chaos abound.

In a world overrun by division and offense, may kindness be our superpower.

May our kindness be a beacon that shines so bright it dispels darkness because of its radiant light.

Lord, May kindness begin with me; a simple seed sown, sprouting into a tree, branching out, far and wide, touching hearts, healing hurts deep inside.

I pray for more kindness in this world.

May kindness spread and multiply, like a ripple effect; like a flag unfurled.

Let kindness be our superpower.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

I pray this poetic prayer that I wrote resonates with your soul. We must be kinder to one another.

Through our common, collective experience, we can make a difference in this world simply by being kind.

In the week that lies ahead, I pray you experience the superpower of kindness in a way in which you have not experienced it before. [Be sure to share it here if you do!]

May we continue to be transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Let kindness be YOUR superpower!

Abundant blessings,
