Everything which calls itself Christian is not biblical Christianity

Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23:29 ESV

Jer. 23 reminds us everything which calls itself Christian is not biblical Christianity. It begins with God attacking the shepherds/pastors who are misrepresenting Him before the people. Far too many see a Bible in his hand and assume he is sharing the Word of the Lord. Not always so! Jeremiah 23 is proof the devil has false preachers throughout the world.

Verse 28 gives this charge to the preacher/teacher: “let him who has My word speak My word truthfully. What does straw have in common with grain? declares the Lord.” Falsehood (straw) can never substitute for truth (grain). Today’s people don’t need something that makes them feel good; they need truth! And the truth sometimes hurts. Will the truth work? Ah, yes! God’s word is like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces.

God has promised to empower His Word, not man’s latest ideas. Let’s share truth—God’s truth—with one another! The young pastor G. Campbell Morgan was sitting one Sunday evening in his study. God asked him, “What are you going to be? A preacher or My messenger?” Campbell spent the evening examining his life. “What are you going to be? A preacher or My messenger?”

He finally said, “Your messenger, Lord. I will speak your words from this day forward, adding nothing to them and taking nothing away.” AMEN!

Hebrews 12:1-2A

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

He provides practical how-to-do-ministry resources for the disciples of Jesus Christ at http://www.godsgreenhouse.net. Tom’s latest book is “God Speaks–Today!”

You better speak the truth that hurts and then heals that falsehood that comforts and then kills. A messenger is better than a preacher.
