Why do we question God?

Why do we question God? Why do we doubt Him? Here is why, we are often looking for God to be fair. We expect God be fair, we expect Him to make things fair, we want God to change our circumstances, in fact to change the world and make it all fair. But God isn’t fair, He is good…always. If God were fair none of us would have a relationship with Him. We would die in the sins we struggle with.

You and I, we think we want fairness from God, and when we don’t get it, specifically our version of it, we complain, and sometimes we walk away. When what we think would be fair does not happen we question God’s goodness. But good and fair are different. Fair is getting what is deserved. Would you rather get what you deserve, or would you like to get what God gives out of His infinite goodness?

The challenge is this, we don’t see God’s goodness when what we’re looking for is fairness. Let it go. Stop seeking fairness and open your eyes. God’s goodness is all around you. It’s in the food He gives you the ability to pay for. It’s in the fact that you live in a safe place. It’s in the love of the people who surround you. God’s goodness is obvious, if we will but look for it. May you always keep your eyes open, watching for His goodness, and you will be blessed as He reveals it to you.

He is not fair. He is the father of Mercy that I perceive as ” Unmerited Forgiveness, Unmerited Favor and Unmerited Grace. He blesses us with far more than we need or deserve.
