You can Start Over

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 15:13

Chefs will tell you, “You can’t un-cook lasagna, but you can start over.” And the same goes for our lives. We can’t undo what we’ve done, but we can have a brand-new start, and God wants to give us that fresh start. God is the God of new beginnings.

Every day, there are fresh-start opportunities: opportunities to right wrongs, to witness to a friend or co-worker, to be a better spouse or parent, or to make a brand-new start.

Therefore, we need to take that next step. God isn’t finished in taking us farther into the faith, and there is always greater grace that the Lord supplies to live this life. But if we don’t listen, then we’ll remain in our present rut.

If we don’t move forward by faith, then our hearts will grow colder, and we’ll feel more distant from God. So, let’s take that next step, no matter how small or insignificant it may be. The Bible says not to despise the day of small beginnings (Zechariah 4:10).

May this past Christmas be truly one of transformation as we celebrate the birth of our Savior and Lord. Take care and God bless.

love this! Just to support that God offers fresh starts continuously through spiritual understanding, not through material change; it’s about turning to God (divine Love and Mind) to transform our thought, allowing new, good ideas to replace old limitations- revealing our inherent spiritual perfection and God’s ever-present goodness. This enables us to “make all things new” moment by moment.

In regards to Zechariah 4:10 about not despising small beginnings, I am reminded of Luke 16:10a, “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much”. We need to be willing to take that first step of faith to start that new beginning, even if it’s starting out small, and then God will bring the increase in His time. Also, sometimes we can be fearful of moving forward if we allow ourselves to be stuck in the past. I remember what the apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14, “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Paul did not let his past failures, or successes for that matter (according to the world’s standards), keep him from moving forward in what God had called him to do, as He gave him that fresh start. This comes about by renewing our minds daily, as it states in Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
